Kolkatans are better known for their taste and choice for recipe. Although Bengali dishes are very popular, yet preparations of various countries and places in India have grown popular with the cosmopolitan characteristics of the city. In this cuisine section, we are trying to figure out some very special and delicious menu that could be easily prepared at home. The recipe has been brought in here from different sources and we thank them for their cooperation in enlighten us with the special dishes.
Mochar Dalna
Mocha is the flower of banana when it almost turn into the fruit. This is a very tasty and heritage Bengali recipe. It contains high amount of Iron and other minerals and vitamins. We have almost forgotten to prepare this dish in the age of fast food. Let us get back to the olden style of the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Medium size Mocha - 1 No
  • Potato medium size - 2 Nos sliced
  • White Zeera - 20 grams
  • Green Chilly - 6 pieces sliced
  • White Oil - 50 grams
  • Red Chilly - 4 pieces
  • Tej Pata - 6 leaves
  • Coconut - grated 25 grams
  • Ghee - 2 tablespoonful
  • Garam Masala - 5 grams

Preparation:

  • Slice the Mocha into fine slices and keep into water for 2/3 hours
  • Now wash the Mocha properly at least 2/3 time in water
  • Put oil in the fry pan and put Tej Pata, White Zeera and Red Chilly when the oil is hot.
  • Put the sliced Mocha in the oil and keep frying till it turn into brown colour
  • As it turns into brown colour, put the grated coconut into it
  • Fry the mix for 5 minutes till it turns into a bit reddish colour
  • Put the sliced green chilly and salt taste and add one and half cup of water.
  • Close the Pan and let the entire preparation be cooked for 5 minutes.
  • Open the lid and see that the water is in the verge of being dried up.
  • As it tends to dry up, add ghee and Garam masala and bring down the pan from the open.
  • Server the preparation in lunch or dinner as main dish dish.
